1968-69
The First Team
The team that started it all. Led by founder and Head Coach Bob Schnitzler, this is where the Battle Creek Wrestling story begins.
1970
District Champions
The 1970 Battle Creek District Champion team under Head Coach Bob Schnitzler — the program's founding era.
1980s
The Return
Wrestling returned to Battle Creek in 1984 after a decade-long hiatus. These teams reignited a tradition that would grow into a dynasty.
1990s
First State Champion
The decade that produced Battle Creek's first state champion — Matt Hoskinson in 1993 — and laid the foundation for the program's future success.
2000s
Survive and Build
Robbie Klinetobe wins a state championship, and Coach Gray retires, for the first time. Forced to return to save the program, the turn of the century was one of survival, but finished with a pivotal coaching hire to set the course of Battle Creek Wrestling for decades. The Cody Wintz era begins.
2010
The Breakthrough
Karl Bonner's state championship at 125 lbs marked the first title of the Cody Wintz era — a program on the rise. Karl did it first, and then Lake Thompson did it twice and a new standard was born.
2010s
Rising Champions
A decade of rising champions — from finals appearances to back-to-back titles, Battle Creek cements its place among Nebraska's elite.
2020s
Championship Era
Battle Creek's championship era in full force — coaches, fans, and Braves wrestling at the highest level. This decade also saw the addition of Girls Wrestling as an NSAA-sanctioned sport, and Afftynn Stusse made history as Battle Creek's first-ever girls state champion in 2023.
College
On the National Stage
